My little man is a growing, most-of-the-time happy boy!! He has a smile that melts my heart and he is really starting to show us his personality.
My sweet, handsome Owen:
You have been practicing yelling lately and you have no hesitation with doing this in public! I have to say, I love it even though you are getting very loud! The best part is when your sissy copies you and I have two “yelling” babies!! It is like the two of you are playing a game to see who can yell the loudest. You love having your sis around and she makes you smile and giggle. It is the funniest thing when the two of you are giggling together!
You are still trying to master rolling from your back to your belly. That darn shoulder keeps getting in the way though! You are really close and I don’t think it will be much longer.
We have been working on sitting up too. You can’t sit for too long yet without toppling over, but you love to try!
You are eating about 6-7 oz of milk every 3-4 hours during the day. You definitely eat more than your sister did! And you are a much longer, heavier baby than your sister was. Great grandma keeps telling you that you are going to be a basketball player!
You have been sleeping through the night (for the most part) for a while now and recently we put you in your own room 😦 Mommy was sad, but you are doing really well. I have found that you sleep best on your belly so I’m hoping you figure out how to roll over soon! You are also napping twice a day. Once in the morning for about 1-1.5 hours and in the afternoon for about the same timeframe.
You still have light eyes and they are changing differently than your sister’s did. I’m not going to get too excited because it is very likely you will have brown eyes, but I would love it if you had daddy’s green eyes!!!
You definitely let us know when you are sleepy, uncomfortable, hungry or scared because sis is flying around the room, being loud or being a little too rough with you. She does have good intentions but we are working with her on gentle touches!
Mommy, daddy and big sister love you so much and want you to know that you complete our little family!!
My beautiful Jensen is 3 years old today! So much has changed in her life over this past year. Shortly after Halloween last year she was potty-trained (huge accomplishment!!), she finally grew that inch she needed to pedal her own bike, she continued to learn new things like how to count from 10 to 20 and learned all the sounds of the letters and is now telling us what letter different words start with!! She can spell her name and practicing writing letters all the time. She also is trying to draw different shapes. She continues to LOVE music AND performing.
She asked daddy just the other day for a guitar!! HA! She is my rock star!! Her vocabulary continues to grow and she fascinates us everyday with her sentence structure and the things she knows! She really likes the movie “Ghostbusters” right now and is even quoting the movie – so her father’s child!
In March of this year she became a big sister and is the best! She makes him laugh, shares her toys with him and wishes he could play more, which I keep telling her will happen soon enough.
She is very independent and definitely mature for her age (poor thing gets that from her mama.) She tells us everyday that she is the “teacher” and she loves to read to us. She is a great listener and has a very polite and sometimes shy personality (until she gets comfortable then you better watch out!)
Mommy, daddy and baby Owen love you soooo much! You bring so much joy, laughter and wonder to our lives!! Happy birthday baby!!
We were lucky enough this summer to take two amazing lake trips. The first I blogged about a few weeks back. The second lake trip we took was with my in-laws and the kiddos to a home we rented on Lake of the Ozarks (mile marker 78.)
We left on a Thursday morning and got to our home around lunch time. Once we got everything unpacked, we settled right in, had lunch and put on our swimsuits!! The home was great and very comfortable for us. 5 bedrooms total, upstairs were two bathrooms, kitchen, living room and sunroom. Downstairs were two bedrooms, a bar and living area and access to the patio and dock. Drew and I got the big master bedroom upstairs. We thought Jensen might sleep in her own room, but of course Jensen and Owen both slept in our bed with us the whole weekend. We had two other bedrooms upstairs that were unoccupied – maybe Jensen will sleep in her own room next year! Gma and Gpa Schauner slept in a room downstairs.
It was such a relaxing and wonderful trip. We grilled most of our meals and hung out on the dock the whole time. We played games, watched movies and ate way too much!! When Sunday came around none of us wanted to leave.
We have already decided that we are going back again next year and maybe we will stay a few days longer!!
After we arrived on Thursday we immediately put our swimsuits on and Jensen and gma went downstairs to play air hockey. Jensen had never played before and she loved it!! She had to stand on the cooler to play though!

My girl at the end of the first busy day. After daddy finished taking pictures she asked if she could go to bed! Ha! She had never done that before either!
My little man Owen. He turned 3 months old the day we arrived at the lake!
